School Lunch

Image result for school lunch

We operate a cafeteria style dining room.

From September 2014, as part of a Government initiative, all children in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 will be given a school meal free of charge. For this reason there will be no provision for children in these cohorts to have a packed lunch from home. All children will have a school meal provided for them – sandwich options are available.

All our food is cooked on the premises and we follow the healthy eating menus recommended by City Services– our catering service provider.  A vegetarian option is always available as is fresh fruit.  Fresh, clean water is available for all children.

School meals prices are:

FREE for Reception to Year 2

£2.30 per day for Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 (£11.50 per week)

Dinner money must be paid for online through ParentMail and school can send a registration link to your email address, all money must be paid a week in advance. Oneweeks’ notice must be given to change your child from either sandwiches to dinners or from dinners to sandwiches as cook will have placed food orders in advance.

We cannot allow large arrears of dinner money to accrue and we have a strict system to help us keep on top of payments.

If you are experiencing difficulties with paying you must come and see the Headteacher immediately.

Some children in Key Stage 2 classes may be eligible to free school meals and information can be obtained from the school office or from the Benefits Office on Great George Street.

Other Food in School

Milk is provided free of charge for all children in school – the cost of this is paid for from the school’s budget.  All children in Reception and Key Stage 1 classes also receive a piece of fruit or a vegetable (e.g. carrot) at morning break – there is no charge for this as it is part of a Government initiative.

As part of our drive to achieve the Healthy Schools Award we do not allow sweets, chewing gum, chocolate or fizzy drinks into school-either as a snack or in lunch boxes.

All classrooms have a filtered, chilled water dispenser and children are encouraged to drink water whenever they need to.  This helps to keep their brains hydrated and improves their capacity to learn.  Your support in promoting a healthy diet and way of living is much appreciated.
